Steve Goodman Book Tour

A couple years ago, a guy from Seattle named Clay Eals called me and wanted to ask some questions about Steve Goodman who, among other things, wrote the song  "City of New Orleans". I was happy to oblige because Steve was one of my performing heroes and I  opened shows for him 6 or 7 times (with my family)before he was cut down by leukemia in 1984 at the age of 36. Anyway, Clay now has a biography about Steve out and is doing a book tour which features music, and it looks like I'm going to help out at 4 of the shows . I'll be at the Bitter End in Manhattan (with my sister Annie) on Monday August 13 at 2PM, Albany Borders on Monday. August 20 at 3PM, Cafe Lena in Saratoga Springs,NY on Monday, August 20 at 7PM (also with Annie), and Passim's in Cambridge, Mass. on Tuesday, August 21st. Check the "SHOWS" page for more details. And check out the book-it's called "Facing the Music", avalable at your local book store.

BACK AT SHADRACH'S: March 17, 2007

Willie here: First of all, thanks to so many of you who showed up February 4th for the Americares benefit; it was a big success and I think everybody had a good time. Personally, I enjoyed playing with a big ensemble for a lot of people in a room with good acoustics. Singing with my brother, Jim also made the show a little more special.

Due to a response from many of you, my leave of absence from Shadrach's has been shortened!  I guess cards, letters and phone calls really do make a difference sometimes-very encouraging to me, and I'm very grateful to those of you who took the time to let your feelings be known on this matter. Soooo....our return on February 17th as well as our follow-up on March 3rd were well attended, so we're on an every-other Saturday schedule for awhile.I'll be back at the Heritage Resort and Conference Center {(203) 264 8200} in beautiful downtown Southbury,Ct (Heritage Road, across from Friendly's) on Saturday night, March 17rd (yikes!)from 8-12PM with trusty Ken Melton on drums, vocals-and his new Congas! Hope to see a good crowd there again to chase the winter away. (Tell your Mama!). We'll also be there Saturday, March 31.

Bye Bye Discussion Board

Well, the spammers clogged up the discussion board with porn links so I have given up on that and henceforth I'm going to try and be a little better about getting a few words up here ever week or two to let you know what I've been up to and what's coming up. Hope you enjoy it (and don't miss those porn links too much).....

Willie on Youtube! (Mr. Cellophane)

Due to the efforts of fellow Heritage-Villager Marvin Shapiro, my recent performance of "Mr. Cellophane" from the show Chicago is now available on youtube. Click here to check out the video. You can also log in to youtube (if you haven't already), register your comments and rate the video. Definitely something a little different for me. Let me know what you think.
